About The Benders - Then & Now -

The original Group formed in Arlington Virginia sometime in the late 50's to early 60's. The original members - John (Jack)  VanHorn - J.D. Fetzer - Jimmy Carter (Later with The British Walkers) - and George Mosely on Drums. In the Early to Mid 60's The Band took on a different variation - John (Jack) VanHorn - Richie Mitchell - Bill Hodges - and Bobby Jones. Jack and Richie hooked up with The Wray Family at Vinnies (10th & H Street N.W. Wash. D.C.) - Vernon Wray (Ray Vernon) - Link Wray - Doug Wray - Shorty Horton. That relationship gave The Benders a Huge Boost in their Musical Presence in the business.
